Since waking up the quiet rural village of Thurston, Suffolk with thumping drums at the age of 10, Adam Levey aka wax works has never looked back. A short while later, his love affair with music progressed to the guitar, songwriting and self-production. Now residing in Leeds, Levey proclaims his sound to be a love child of indie pop stars Dayglow and Alfie Templeman with some 80’s disco and funk thrown in for good measure. Indications of early influences The Kooks and Arctic Monkeys also bubble up to the surface, exhibiting themselves through his riff-based choruses and use of fuzzy guitar tones. Autumn 2021 saw wax works taking his sound to the live stage, supporting bands such as Cassia, Kaiser Chiefs and Joesef and this summer he hit the festival stages for the first time, performing at Dot 2 Dot, Y Not, Boardmasters and Truck festivals.
