VOLUNTEER AT SŴN FESTIVAL

Sŵn volunteers are at the heart of the festival! They’re often the first point of contact for most festival-goers and are essential to the smooth-running of the festival period. As a volunteer at Sŵn 2019, you will be taking a hands-on role at the forefront of the event. With a dedicated team around you from the moment we meet you, right through to the final band’s set, we aim to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our volunteers.

customer service

Position
Sŵn Customer Service Volunteer

Who the position reports to
Elan Evans / Box Office Rep / Venue Rep

Availability
18-20th October 2019
11am-late
Must be available to work at least two out of three shifts and to attend scheduled meetings leading up to the festival

Brief description of position
As a customer service volunteer at Sŵn Festival 2019, you will be a key part of the festival for artists, guests and venue staff. You will be assigned an area and schedule ahead of the festival based on your availability. You will be trained on box office scanners and essential information beforehand.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing box office venue box
  • Running the box office along with the rep
  • Scanning digital tickets and providing wristbands to customers
  • Providing clear information for FAQ’s when asked
  • Directing customers to venues
  • Dressing venues
  • Encouraging mailing list signups at box office
  • Selling merch
  • Representing Sŵn in a professional and friendly manner as the first point of contact for most of the festival-goers

What we’re looking for

  • Some customer service experience

  • A basic knowledge of Cardiff (geographically)

music conference

Position
Sŵn Festival Music Conference Events Co-ordinator Volunteer

Who the position reports to
Conference Co-ordinator / Venue Rep

Availability
17th October 2019: 9am – 6pm / 5pm – 9pm
18th October 2019: 9am – 6pm

Must be available to work at least two out of three shifts and to attend scheduled meetings leading up to the festival

Brief description of position
As a Music Conference volunteer at the Sŵn Festival Music Conference 2019, you will be a key part of the conference for guests, speakers and venue staff. You will be assigned an area and schedule ahead of the festival based on your availability.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming guests on the day
  • Providing clear information for FAQ’s when asked
  • Assisting the Conference Co-ordinator wherever needed
  • Assist in the dressing / un dressing of the rooms
  • Liaising with any guest speakers or panelists to ensure they know where to be and when
  • Representing Sŵn in a professional and friendly manner as the first point of contact for most of the conference guests
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the day

Position
Sŵn Marketing Volunteer

Who the position reports to
Steffan Dafydd + Catrin Morris / Venue Reps

Availability
18 – 20th October 2019
11am – late
Must be available to work at least 2 out of 3 shifts and to attend scheduled meetings leading up to the festival

Brief description of position
As a marketing volunteer at Sŵn Festival 2019, you will be a key part of the festival, documenting the whole weekend across digital platforms.

You will be given a schedule ahead of the festival.  This will include at least 1-2 hours every day based in the Clwb Ifor Bach office. You will also be given branding and general guidelines beforehand.

Responsibilities

  • Posting images to all social media platforms according to the branding guidelines
  • Creating written content for all social media platforms
  • Answering customer questions online
  • Updating the app according to capacities given by venue reps
  • Photographing/videoing artists whilst venue floating

*Social Media platforms include Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as scheduling apps (Skedsocial/Tweetdeck/Facebook integrated scheduling)

What we’re looking for

  • Good knowledge of social media platforms
  • Keen interest in festivals and events
  • Good time keeping
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Preferably fluent Welsh-language but not essential

Sŵn Production Volunteer

Oliver Miles / Venue Technician / Venue Rep

Must be available to work at least two out of three shifts and to attend scheduled meetings leading up to the festival.

Brief description of position
As a production volunteer at Sŵn Festival 2019, you will be a key part of the festival for artists, guests and venue staff. You will be assigned a venue and schedule ahead of the festival based on your preferred area of work.

Responsibilities (based on preferred area of work)

Artist Liaison / Stage Management

  • Helping bands load-in gear / backline
  • Collecting backline and ensuring its upkeep
  • Dressing the street and venues
  • Helping prepare artist packs, and venue boxes

Sound/Lighting Engineer

  • Assisting engineers/reps with changeovers
  • Shadowing Sound/Lighting Engineers
  • Dressing the street and venues
  • Helping prepare artist packs, and venue boxes

What we’re looking for
