Ali Chant

One of the most sought-after producers working in alternative music today, Ali Chant has over 20 years of production and engineering experience to his name, having produced acclaimed records for the likes of Perfume Genius, Gruff Rhys and Yard Act.

Starting his career as a touring musician, Chant quickly became fascinated by the process of recording sound and the limitless creative possibilities of the recording studio. Deciding to devote himself entirely to this pursuit, he would go on to engineer records for artists such as PJ Harvey and M. Ward, operating out of Bristol’s legendary ToyBox studios between 2003 and 2016. It was during his time at ToyBox that Chant began honing his skills as a producer, eventually being asked to produce records for Perfume Genius and Gruff Rhys among many others.

Known for his bold, sonically adventurous approach to production and mixing, Chant has become a go-to producer for both established artists and today’s most exciting new acts – the latter evidenced by his production on Yard Act’s Mercury Prize-nominated debut album, ‘The Overload.’ His mixing credits include Aldous Harding, Dry Cleaning, Soccer Mommy and many more.
