First Wave of 57 Artists Announced for Sŵn 2024

We’re thrilled to share the exciting news about this years first wave of artists. Our line-up features an incredible array of talent. Wu-Lu will bring his unique blend of punk, grunge, and hip-hop to the streets of Cardiff. English Teacher will captivate you with their mix of emo-rock, dream-pop, and psychedelia. Hannah Diamond, the internet’s original pop princess and a founding member of PC Music, will shine a lens on girlhood and stardom. Porij will redefine dance music with their blend of UK garage, drum’n’bass, and deep house.

We’re also dedicated to showcasing local talent. Cardiff natives Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard will deliver their grisly garage-rock and pop sensibilities. Welsh-language indie-rockers Adwaith, the harmonic pop-rave sounds of Das Koolies (featuring members of Super Furry Animals), and rising stars Half Happy are set to impress. Pys Melyn‘s laid-back melodies and wistful psychedelia, which earned them a Welsh Music Prize nomination, will also be part of this year’s diverse line-up, along with Aberystwyth-born rockers Mellt and alt-pop wonder Hana Lili.

For the first time since before the pandemic, Sŵn Festival will be multi-venue for all three days. On Thursday, October 17th, we’ll take over Womanby Street with five stages at Clwb Ifor Bach, Tiny Rebel, The Moon, and Fuel. Friday and Saturday will see the festival expand across Cardiff city centre, with stages at Tramshed, Jacobs Antique Market, Cornerstone, and Porter’s (Saturday-only). Authoritative music publication DIY has joined the festival as a partner this year, taking over a stage and curating its line-up.

Adam Williams, our live manager, shared: “I’m delighted to finally share the first wave of artists for Sŵn Festival 2024. This year’s event will be slightly different; running from Thursday through Saturday all three days will be fully multi-venue, with over 130 artists performing across 11 different stages. We’re also finalising some exciting guests, stage partners, and the return of our industry conference—details of which we’ll share soon. Most importantly, this year’s event will be a key partner within the inaugural Cardiff Music City Festival, a three-week, city-wide celebration of music in Cardiff this Autumn.”

We’re making this year’s festival more accessible than ever, with payment plans, concession tickets, and more opportunities for community involvement through our volunteer program and a new apply-to-play scheme. Tickets are on general sale now, and we’ve made it easier than ever to join in the fun.

We have a rich history of hosting contemporary Welsh music’s biggest names, such as Gruff Rhys, Gwenno, and Cate Le Bon, and championing future stars like Sam Fender, Wolf Alice, Disclosure, and Ben Howard. This year, we’re continuing that tradition with a line-up that promises to be unforgettable. Join us for three days of music, community, and celebration.
