
Samantha Moy
Samantha Moy is Head of BBC Radio 6 Music, having originally joined the station and latterly Radio 2 as Executive Producer, overseeing shows like Steve Lamacq and Steve Wright In The Afternoon. She started her career in radio at Kiss 100 in London, joining independent production company Somethin’ Else to produce programmes for Radio 1, Radio 2 and the BBC World Service. She then joined BBC Radio 1 in 2002 where she produced the Evening Session, Jo Whiley and the Live Lounge, The Chris Moyles Show, Greg James and Annie Mac amongst others. Sam was also an Event Producer at the BBC Electric Proms in 2008-2009, producing shows with Oasis, The Streets and Goldfrapp broadcast on BBC TV and radio.
Sam has been in role since 2020 and has overseen the hire of presenters including Jamz Supernova, The Blessed Madonna, Zakia Sewell and Huw Stephens to the network and has commissioned Cillian Murphy’s Limited Edition and launched 6 Music’s Change the Tune initiative – its aim to raise awareness and explore the impact of online abuse on artists’ lives. Available on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer, we heard from musicians and presenters, sharing their online experiences, as well as from mental health professionals about the effects that personal attacks online can have on individuals and their lives. In response, 6 Music launched a clear code of conduct and a new means of reporting comments of concern on its own social media platforms.
6 Music and its programmes have been nominated for multiple awards in recent years including ARIA Station of the Year Award in 2023 & 2024 and winning Music Week Station of the Year in 2023.
