Since exploding onto the scene donning vintage velvet suits back in 2019, CVC – acronym for Church Village Collective, a nod to the sleepy South Walian town in which they were raised – have gained a large, avid fanbase. In early 2019, the six-piece played a sold-out gig in Clwb Ifor Bach ahead of releasing their own material. Influenced by Snoop Dogg, The Beatles, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Super Furry Animals and Crosby, Stills & Nash, CVC’s message is “peace, love and good times”, adopting the laid-back attitude of their hometown. The funk-inducing retro rock troupe used their time during lockdown wisely, changing the band dynamic and starting production on their debut EP Real To Reel which was released two years later.
