Jacobs Back Room
Bingo Fury conjures a glitzy – altogether seedy – Broadway sheen. Although very much a solo songwriter, Bingo’s compositional process relies on contributions from his entire band. Megan Jenkins [bass] and Henry Terrett [drums] have been playing together since their teens. In one of the band’s many incarnations they recruited cornet player Harry ‘Iceman’ Furniss, with guitarist and percussionist Rafi Cohen completing the line-up. Attaining pockets of influence from Nina Simone, Leonard Cohen, James Chance and The Lounge Lizards, their haunting compositions can often land like jazz standards that got lost on their journey to the present day. The band’s EP, Mercy’s Cut, will be released on Friday 7 October.
