Nigerian-born, Edinburgh based soul musician James Emmanuel has a voice that could inspire any room. Having first found his love for singing after his father encouraged him to join a gospel choir, he would continue to sing from then on. One of his first musical loves was the music of Marvin Gaye, and you can see echoes from that era of soul in Emmanuel’s work.
Having finally found a real sense of home on the beautiful streets of Edinburgh, he released a song about it titled ‘Nothing But Love For This City’. It features on his recently released EP ‘Good Man’, which came out at the end of June.
We’ll be absolutely blown away by those soaring vocals when James Emmanuel comes to Sŵn this year.
