There is accommodation in and around the heart of Cardiff to suit all budgets. Anywhere in Cathays, Roath, Canton or the city centre is within walking distance of most of the festival venues. You are spoilt for choice when to comes to lower budget hotels in the area. First up, let us tell you about The Safehouse Hostel – a lovely little establishment right in the heart of the action. Prices are already reasonable, but if you use the code SWN16 whilst booking rooms, you’ll be able to claim a 20% discount.
The Big Sleep and Ibis are both close to the Motorpoint arena and Gwdihw, and both reasonable. Another ten minutes walk off Queen’s St is Mercure Holland House, while in the city centre, Holiday Inn, Travelodge and Premier Inn are all but a hop, skip and a dance from many of the weekend’s venues. All the above often have rooms for under £50.
For the upmarket visitor, the Hilton, the Marriott, Park Plaza and Radisson Blu are central options, offering a touch of luxury for around £60-100 per night. St. David’s Spa and Hotel down the bay and Celtic Manor Resort are further out of town and significantly more expensive, but they make up for their distance from the festival site with their five star hospitality. You may be lucky to spot deals for The Angel Hotel – giving you the unique chance to sample its stunning Victorian delights, beautiful staircase, and best of all get to stay at a festival venue without being up to your face in mud. Or up to anywhere!
Just across the river toward Canton and Pontcanna is the beautiful Cathedral Rd, along which there are dozens of B&B’s, small hotels and guesthouses, many with lovely views and eminently luxurious rooms. If you’d rather save your cash for other things (beer/ merch/ 3am kebabs from Chippy Lane…) and don’t mind staying in a hostel, the Bunk House on St. Mary’s Street is the closest to both Central Station, with beds available from Alternatively, a short walk takes you to Nomad, just 10 minutes or so walk from Queen’s St station, NosDa and The Riverhouse Backpackers are directly over the river (we’d rather you use the bridge) from the Millennium Stadium and there’s also a YHA hostel near Roath park.
